As if you need yet another reason to love this wonderful man, he goes and does something much more wonderful.
I've been speculating for the past month or so that Jack Johnson would for sure have a summer tour and he would for sure return to visit us at Red Rocks. Alas my dreams came true and he announced a stint at Red Rocks for Sunday August 17th. I then got an e-mail that I would be able to buy tickets before they went on sale to the public, and while I would like to consider myself a VIP- I am quite certain many people got this e-mail. I was uber-paranoid that I would forget to log on this morning so I set multiple reminders on my cell phone, my work outlook express as well as had the website up and ready at 9 am-way before the 10 am sale started. Thankfully I got 2 tickets for the show, which will most likely be the best show of my summer. I was also psyched to be given the chance to donate to offset my carbon emissions that will result from traveling to the show.
Jack recently started a community called all at once which is aimed to join together people who want to become active in their local and world community. This along with the interactive Village Green, which educates and activates fans to take action, are just two of the many ways in which Jack is giving back to the communities he visits. All donations made by fans to these organizations online or at the concerts will be matched by Jack Johnson’s charity, the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation.
He recently said:
“I can’t think of a better reason to put on a concert than to bring people together to create positive change,” said Jack Johnson. “With this year’s tour we are bringing together all of our resources All At Once to give back to each community that we visit.”
I applaud Jack for using his popularity and music for good. I have been searching out a way to volunteer, looking for a cause that hits close to home and one that I can feel passionate about.
But life has taken over and I've gotten busy and excuses, excuses. Nonetheless, I am thankful for the friendly reminder from Jack and the push to get off my ass and find my cause.
